Ph1 gear box the same as ph2 gear box???

Hi dose anyone no if a ph1 gear box is the same as a ph2 gear box for a 172??

Ph1 has slightly taller gearing i think around 5% off the top of my head.
Also the ph1 has a speedo sensor in the gearbox but the phase 2 takes the speedo reading elsewhere i believe

Ok so it's best to just stick to the ph2 one. Sounds like it could be a drama. Cheers for ur help bud.

You shouldnt have any problem tbh if you want to put a ph1 box in a ph2 as the car will pick up the speedo from the abs anyway, it would just be marginally slower due to the gearing.
Its if you put a ph2 box in a ph1 you have to work out how to get the speedo working (unless you use a cup box which has the speedo sensor also)

Yer I'm with ya I think lol, cheers very much. It's for my mate and he won't want to go slower, as his 172 is already slower than mine..
