PH1 Instrument Cluster wiring the same as PH2 172?

Mainly looking at the actual 172 PH1 and PH2 instrument cluster plugs.
I am looking to wire in my ph1 instrument cluster into my mk1 - are the plugs the same for the ph1 and the ph2 as I have access to some ph2 plugs but not ph1.

I believe the ph1 has a 30 pin grey connector and a 15 pin red connector, what does the ph2 have?

I'm pretty sure the plugs are the same but the wiring is a different way around.

Hi thanks for your reply - I can confirm the plugs are the same - unsure about the wiring but that doesn't matter as I will be soldering the plug into my mk1 loom anyway

Wiring, I can confirm, is different. I have a set of Ph2 dials in front of me at this very moment in bits!

I don't suppose you have a pin out for them do you? A friend of mine wants to put the matching ph2 dials from his engine into his car (mines ph1 clocks and I already have the pinout for that one) thanks mate

This is what I have but so far it's not matched either the Ph1 or Ph2 dials I've used.

Here you go mate, not exactly a diagram like yours and says where to wire it to a mk1 but on the left side it tells you what each pin is for so you can use it for knowing what goes where

looks like you have a ph1 pin out above mate but if it doesn't match that's strange
