Ph1 v Ph2 fuel rail

Whats the difference between the 2? I've got a used (from a cup) fuel rail to go on my ph1 (injectors possibly playing up on mine).

Visually the old and new rails look identical, same numbers printed on the rail etc. How can I tell if my ph1 has a ph2 rail?

If it looks identical, then you'll have a later Ph1 rail which is the same as Ph2's. Earlier Ph1's have a FPR clipped onto the rail whereas late Ph1/Ph2 had the hole blocked and were regulated at the tank.

Do you have 1 fuel line or 2 going to the rail?

Fuel pressure regulator. At a guess.

Look at it as 3 pieces the pipe that injectors sit in, the fuel pressure regulator port and the pipe that the return fuel pipe connects to. Where the pipe with the injectors runs into the FPR port there should be a hole in the top of the pipe as you look into the FPR port, if it does then its PH1, if its blocked off the it's a ph2.

If you don't understand what I've written above just, stick the injectors in the rail and blow down the port that the fuel line (input) connects to, if it blows straight through and out of the FPR port then it's the ph1 if no it's the ph2.

FPR = fuel pressure regulator.

The silver round thing with the pipe coming off it to the right. This is an early Ph1 rail with the regulating being done at the rail:

A ph2 rail wouldn't have that silver thing there, the hole for it would be blocked off.

Ok, mine does have the silver thing. The new rail has the hole, but no silver job. In that case I'll re-use my rail, and just swap the injectors over. Is swapping the injectors fairly easy?

Yes, pop the circlip things off holding the injector to the rail and swap them to the other rail, then refit the circlips to hold them in place.

Have you tried another coil pack yet? I've got a spare you can try

Yeah, coil pack, leads, and spark plugs have all been changes. And the MAP sensor.

hmmm, I've got a ph1 unlocked ECU you can try too if you want. Just incase the injectors don't work
