Phase 2 172 Speedo not Working

Right, random issue on a phase 2 172 full fat, so ABS pickup for the speedo.

the speedo needle is not working at all, doesnt move no matter what

ABS has been checked and is fine, working no problems and light comes on and goes out as it should also

have also done diagnostic check on the clocks themselves by holding the trip computer button in then switching on ignition, needles all run their checks perfectly as they should

also there is a plug on the loom for the phase 1 type speedo sensor that fits in the gearbox but obviously no electric sensor or hole in the box. is it possible that some early phase 2 172's had this type of speedo setup and the gearbox has been changed on this car to a box that no longer has the speedo hole from a later 172?? or were all full fat phase 2 172's no matter what age ABS pickup for speedo???

figured it out, seems the early phase 2 172's came with speedo in the gearbox and someones fitted a later abs type gearbox to this car.

never realised the phase 2's came with the geaerbox speedo drives at all however, thought they all had abs setups apart from the cups??

lots of ph2's had the gearbox sensor. can make a car run like a dog when the sensor breaks too.

What you might be able to do is get a dealer or specialist with CLIP to change your speedo output to using the ABS
