Pic request: Ph2's lowered on 15s

I seem to be pondering too much about my wheel choices and need to make a decision and just stick with it!

I have a set of lightweight 15s on the cup at the moment and I like the fact the tyres cost feck all. What I dislike is, the huge gap in the arches.

Now I have coilovers in the attic that I have been meaning to fit for over a year  but never know which wheels I want to keep on the car ( the 15s or Turinis) so just seem to give up on it and never make a decision.

My worry is lowering the car to how it will look good, with having some front splitter clearance!

I have looked at Ph1's lowered on the standard 15 inch wheels but I thought the front bumpers aren't so low on them so they can get away with it.

If people can prove you can lower a Ph2 on 15s and it remains drivable with small speedhumps etc then I am all for it.

Otherwise I will just put the Turini's back on and be a sheep. An unhappy sheep with dear tyres.

I'm sure you'd be alright lowering it 50mm on coilovers. I thought the ph1 bumper sat lower than the ph2, but then I suppose
you have a splitter to consider aswell.

I don't want it silly low. Just enough so the front tyre isn't inches away from the arch! 50mm sounds about right.

The splitter could always come off. Could pop on a Skoda one if need be so if it came off it was no biggy.

I just want to make a decision so I can get new tyres for whichever set of wheels and then get the coilovers set up on those wheels.

I have spotted the boosh had 15's on his 182 cup with the sort of lowering amount I want so will ask what sort of clearance issues he has.

Ive had my 182 looking perfect with 15's but could only just fit my fist under the splitter :S i was suprised that i never scrapped the front once, i guess its down to what your coils are like and what the roads you use are like, i know i can commute a route that is low car friendly :)

I'l keep an eye out for 182's as I will be fitting my coilovers in Worle at the weekend hopefully.

A fist of clearance sounds a bit extreme! I think splitter removal is for the best just incase.

DRRolo's is probably how I would initially go arch gap wise.

But Garys looks ideal as there is still quite a bit of clearance on the splitter with the arch gap being low enough so seems ideal. You don't know how low it is do you so I can copy

I miss my cup.i think it was around the 55mm mark from what i remember,i couldnt have it too low as my drive is a t**t

What offset are those ph1 wheels Gary? Your cup does look smashing!

I take it they are 195/50/15? I see some people run 45s, but that would make the clearance even worse.

yea they were ph1 15" oz's running 195/50/15 toyo tr1's unsure of the offset tho.

i sold the cup about this time last year and still regret it but never mind.i will get another one one day.

I'm looking at some 15's too for my PH2.
It's already down pretty low so I'm keeping my eyes peeled on this.
I'm thinking I might have to raise it a little.

I think I will stick with 195/50/15 then  I have never used T1Rs though. Some people say they wear quickly. For what they cost I will give them a punt.

Much scraping the floor on corners and stuff on those?

Never scrapes the floor, not that low.

Sometimes catches a tyre on the bumper bracket, but thats just because i need to modify the brackets.

Not 100% sure, about 1/3 down the thread on the front and halfway on the back.

Its on ktecs so its super soft, when a bird s**ts on it it lowers another 10mm :rasp:

Hah. I think I'll have to raise mine then, getting some Oz F1's but they are on 195/45/15's so I think I'll need to change the tyre's too, or maybe raise it a little higher.

Cheers for in the info :)

I have Ktec coilovers ready to go on so will look to aim for 1/3 on the front then.

Are you finding them really soft then? I have had them in the attic over a year and should really know by now

Yep, really soft, i reckon some better and stiffer springs would help.

They will get changed eventually if i dont sell the car, but for the price you can't really go wrong with the ktecs.

I have read a few times that people thought they were as stiff as standard cup shocks. Time will tell!

Yeah, I didn't pay a great deal for mine. I was one of the first 5 that got them at a special price. Must be the last to fit them though

Lowered it today on the 15s..

Measured up 20 threads from the bottom of my KTR coilovers and thought I would start at that and see what adjustment was needed..

That ended up lowering it 100mm at the front leaving me with minimal clearence!

Need to get it up in the air again and raise it an inch.

Looks mean tho ;)

Didn't mean to ignore your reply mate, I didn't see it :)

Yeah the KTR coils for some stupid reason go about 20 million times to low at the front considering how soft they are you really cant run them that low whilist being able to corner properly :)

I'm not finding them soft.

I raised it so I have 2 inches of threads on the front. Which is still rediculous as it rubs on the bumper brackets. Have cut the liner out and it still rubs going left so I need to trim it some more.

Will defo raise it again to the heights shown in this thread.

One of my rear shocks had no oil in it at all so explains why the rear was a bit twitchy!

I'm going to write a guide up at some point on fitting these KTR's as I know alot more now that would have been handy to have known beforehand. The original H&R guide is quite vague.

No I haven't and I don't get any scrubbing on it which is nice, I don't like to go to low, especially living in the back and beyond!
