Pick up my Cup tomorrow....

  cock mobile.

Which I am well excited about, Im a little worried that I spent a lot of money on a clio, when I could have got an older evo, maybe a convertable, I dunno something else anyway!! But Im hoping all those thoughts will be quashed when I pick it up :)

I have some questions if anyone can help...

Whats the best induction kit to get, I want something with a nice loud roar ;)

How much to lower it and what springs? (it looks just a bit too high)

And do I need an adapter or anything to put an after market head unit in there?

Cheers!

Hi mate...Yeah it wont be as quick as an evo of course but it wont take over your life and bank balance like an evo will.

Piper viper is ment to be the best ind kit £250 tho! ..I dont have 1

Mine is lowered 30 mm on apex springs. Good springs but Eibach are better.

Yes u need an adaptor if you want the display to work.

Here is mine lowered 30mm

Congrats on your purchase, dont worry about the money its well spent...youll have loads of fun!

The best induction kit?...hmm, well the BMC CDA seems to be very popular. They dont tend to roar as much because they are enclosed due to its focus on performance. An open induction kit such a piper cross cone would prob make more noise but would cause performance to suffer due to the indefinate possibility of it sucking in warm air.

Eibach springs seem to be the best in terms of handling although they dont lower the car all that much. Apex 40mm is another option unless you fancied spanking a load of cash on some lovely coilovers lol.

To fit the headunit you just need an ISO Wiring adapter available from places such as halfords.

Hope this helps :)

If u want an Induction kit for the car get the BMC CDA SP08, £170 its worth it, very loud sounds great! Lets hope u dont have as many probs as i have had with my Cup! Been of the road more than on it!!!!!

  Weeman sucks ****

Not many IKs will give you any performance gains unless you can form some kind of heat sheild. Ive seen an ITG custom carbon kit thats supposed to be good (might what Gary G is on about) otherwise as above the Viper but some say you only get a good noise from it?!?!

Sod the expense, get coilovers like me. Ive had the eibachs and the apex. The apex arent quite as good but theyre the only springs out there that will lower a cup...so I believe.

Youll love it mate. My mate used to have VX220 and sadly had to sell it so I chucked my keys at him the other day, as he has no car, and said have a go...he was grinning his tits off and loved it and said how quick it is (bare in mind this guy drives an M5, R32 and used to have an elise to). These are very understated cars IMO (especially when you can embaress Mr. Rep in his M3 lol).

Itll cost half as much to run than an EVO to.

Chris, the BMC CDA (Carbon Dynamic Airbox) is basically the same as the Viper but a little cheaper. The kit from ITG (maxogen i think) is mucho expensive! mcardnal? think has one fitted. As a compromise between price and performance the BMC is the one to go for me thinks. £170 + the hillpower silicone inlet pipe £50 ish.

I have had an Ecnclosed kit and a Panel filter (ITG), But have found my current setup to be the only one to make a noticable difference. I have a K&N 57I kit from a 182 with a custom Heat Shiled. Works wonderfully. Put your hand between the IK and heatshield when the engine is hot and it is still relatively cool between the two.

Thanks for the repiles!

Its more of a sound thing I want rather than performance, so Im guessing an open filter such as piper cross or K&N are going to give me the best sound?

Coilovers.... the price of them scares me! Think Ill look into those springs, 30mm looks sweet, and probably keeps it quite sensible!

Do you get any discounts on these products from online shops if youre a ClioSport member?

Yup. go to the home page and then to members area. is a list of dealers on there mate.

Also if you get an open kit, make sure you get a heat shield as these engine bays get very hot.

How did I fit a heatshield... excuse my ignorance Im no mechanic!

Have you got some pics of yours George, with the heatshield and kit?

Cheers.
