Picked up the 182 today!!

  Mini Cooper S sport

Its all mine!! Never thought Id have a 182, but Im sooo glad. I love the cruise control too, never had a car with that before.

Theres only one thing which Im not sure is right: the petrol cap doesnt lock in any way, so anyone could take it off. Its just a plastic cap which twists off really easily - surely they should be unlocked with the ignition key, same as my 172 one did? Its a UK car...

It should lock with a key, sounds like they havent given you the right cap.

The caps that dont lock are for use with cars that have lockable flap.

Jurassic Park!

Im after a 172 within a few months but am so tempted to push the boat out a bit and get a brand spanking 182.

Yeah - the avatar answers your question ;) its got both cup packs, and its 5 months old, but pretty much as new, not a mark on it.

It was HPId by the dealer I got it from, and its clear. It was on Renault finance before.

Hmmm...not sure what to do about the petrol cap then. Im a bit annoyed because I checked everything I could think of, but that didnt even occur to me until I filled it up!

The Renault mats have been taken out and replaced as well, I might see if the dealer can get them back cos its no problem to drive back there.

Sounds like the previous owner was a dumb ass that left the cap at a garage, bought the wrong type of replacement cap and then couldnt keep up the finance payments or something. Very odd, I wonder how they paid that off as they would have owed loads after 6 months.

They traded it in for a Lotus Elise, so they cant have been skint! I know the Renault garage they got it from, maybe Illl give them a ring..

How much does a replacement locking petrol cap cost?

They must have been pretty stupid to buy a Clio then suddenly decide six months later that they want a completely different car.

You can get a cheap locking cap anywhere. What you really want though is one that matches your car key as opposed to having another key.

Gorgeous MB!

Cant you get in touch with the previous owner to find out why the cap and mats were changed, if you get no luck via the dealer??

Also are you changing your forum name now?

Thanks Karen - saw an arctic blue for the first time on the way back too - lovely!

Yes, Ill try asking the previous owner before asking a Renault dealer, Ive got all of his details :)

Ive emailed Kathy about changing my name, and soon Ill be Racing Blue (thought Id stick with the car colour theme!)

you wont get the same key locking petrol cap(i dont think), so you would need to change all your locks to get them to match

Nooo I dont think youd need to go that far - I would have thought if you buy a new petrol cap from Renault theyd match it to your key.

Ady - see you on the M27! :D Your car looked so nice when I passed you, I was MOST jealous..!

Lovely colour MB. Hope you like it - but its not black... are Racing Blue 182s quicker than Black 172s now?

*I skim read all the other crap about the previous owner waffle.

Oooops sorry I meant to text you - I was too grateful that it wasnt a racing blue Robin Reliant! Is it sad that the first thing I did this morning was look out of the window? OOH its shiny in the sun :D

Got the petrol cap sorted - its on order from the local Renault dealer - only costs £16 + vat, so really not worth arguing over! Should get it Friday.

They took my key number, so I wont need an extra key - and also got the Cliosport 10% Shermy discount!

Spoke to the previous owner at the weekend, and he lost the original one by leaving it on the roof when he filled up - twerp!

  Megane 225 baby! :)

That looks lurvely, MB :)

Does seem strange that he would be able to lose the original cap, but hey that must be one of the cheapest things to replace on a Reno! ;)
