Pioneer Headunit + Apple iPod...

  Renaultsport Mégane R26

Anyone got any bright ideas as to how i could connect my Apple ipod to my Pioneer DEH6400 headunit? Its a real pain as ive got about 2000 songs on the ipod and what to be able to play them in the car!

Thanks for all your help,

Dave

Personally I wouldnt use an fm transmitter as it wont sound good.

I use a phono cable and plug it to the aux inputs on the back of my HU. Easy.

Ooh, just checked the pioneer website and youll need the cd-rb20 adapter thingy i think. Check your manual to make sure.

I saw it on one of the car audio sites (car audio direct maybe) it was a little cradle thing that you put your ipod in that connects to the HU.

fm transmitters are illegal for uk use my friend works for apple and they were gonna start selling them, but as cars driving past you have the chance to pick it up, its seen as a pirate radio station ......

silly i know, but if u get caught using 1, means big fines .....

got summit to do with it interfearing with police radio bands, so if a copper goes past and here your music pretty likely that u will get caught .....

Its FM.. so itll interfere with people going past..

So say, you set it to transmit on 97.9.. people listening to Radio1 will have a slight change in radio station choice as they get close to ya.. probably upsetting them.. haha.

Thats if its the one Im thinking about.. heh.. they designed to transmit on normal FM stations so any radio nearby can listen..

yeah thats the one, but some of them you turn a dial to select the frequency it transmits at. Dodgy I agree, but unless the police are listening to radio 1 shouldnt be too much of a problem! Also these are very low power transmitters...but anyways a cables much better for quality!!

the way it works is that there are strict rules surrounding the use of FM waves in this country. If you transmit in a certain range you are breaking the law bascially.

the transmitter was originally produced for the States and they have either different bandwidth or different regs because you dont get done over there. however, i was recently at the Apple Expo in london and they were selling them there; one by Apple and one by a different manufacturer. i wish id asked someone about it now...
