  Clio sport 172
My burg is in need of a full respray as someone decided to. Take a knife to all the tyres and all the paintwork. Been looking into plastic dipping seems pretty good value for money but unsure what the finish of it is like is it worth it ???? Also could you guys help me decide what colour to go for am thinking white with a black roof and wheels but unsure tho

Wouldn't want a white car personally as would be cleaning it every week unless that's something you do anyway

No am not into keeping my car like new a do was it every other week tho a just want it to be different from the rest that are going around no the insurance aren't paying they have made it a cat c :( that's why I was thinking about getting it dipped as its only £300 for the full car and I won't have to declare the colour change

Id love a white 1*2 think they look the dogs IMO.. So you plan to strip it and get it dipped? How easy is wrapping?

A don't think they strip the car down to do it as he said it will only take him approximately 4 hours to do the full car

You will still need to declare it regardless as already said.

There was a vid on Youtube where a 200 was done green, it looked ok in the vid but i am not sure how it would stand up to closer inspection (he did it with the doors shut), anyway this may give you some pointers / inspiration.

Plasti Dip is great stuff. £300 for entire car, realistically will look good for 6 months then start showing some wear. You have to keep it clean and don't let things get baked on by the sun. Removing it? As long as it's been sprayed thick enough it will peel like dry PVA glue on your hand! Spray it too thin on wheels and find out the hard way when you want to remove it. Not fun..

I see someone ask 'how easy is wrapping?'. There's no easy way of doing it, it needs to be done by a professional 'wrapper' (fitter). By all means try it yourself on trim etc, it's good to know the basics, but an entire car wrap is sometimes a 2 man job and can take a couple of days for all balls quality wrapping (door shuts and proper application). Just don't get mugged off and pay for quality, it's your only answer.

Whatever you decide to do, have fun! I quite like the idea of a liquid yellow wrap on a 172 cup...best of both worlds?

Plasti dip is very temporary finish, I bought some in the states last year, mainly used it for some water proofing rc parts and connectors on the cars. I have tried a few small things for aesthetics and it seems ok, also seen it used a few times on vids, but I wouldnt want to spend that much money to do a whole car.

I would go for a wrap. Plan on trying doing one myself on my 172 this year.
