plastic vs stainless sill protectors

hello people,

just a piontless question really, why do some 182's have plastic sill protectors,

and some have the stainless sill protectors, hhhmm thats just something thats

got me wondering, thanks lads for any input on my pointless question.

mine are plastic on the dci. no spec level writing either.

yeh on mine FF 55plate there metal sill protectors, but my mate has just got a 05 182 and his are plastic,
