Play with an Sti

  Fiat Coupe 20v turbo
Following on from a little doo I had with an evo at oulton I had a little play with a Impreza Sti at cadwell...would have been more fun if it was piloted by a decent driver but nevermind.

tbh most cars that i saw on track were'nt being driven that well especially the caterhams/elise which really should be owning everything....

  850 T5. mmmm Turbo!
what do u think of cadwell??
its my home circuit, never driven there but seen a huge amount of accidents!!!

would love ago.

i can vouch for his driving being scary/nice/fun/mental.. he he

he's probably still got finger impressions on his dashboard (or whats left of it) as i was trying to hold on flying round corners at 90+.. lol

Love the circuit ....much better 2nd time round.I don't know why there would be alot of accidents really it's not as bad as it's made out to be imo. Some nice high speed corners and the section under the trees is fun too this and oulton are my favourite circuit i think...

GuyS, how do you get that info on the STI? Is it a DVLA check or somethin? Is it on the site?

nice one Martin I always like watching your track vids.

PS. I am always surprised how quickly your car accellerates. That sti didnt even jump away from you accellerating down the straights

I am sure alot is down to the driver though.

i love the way your clio falls apart on its own to try and shed the extra lbs.
The first vid the light falls down and on this 1 half the dash is missing!
That imp should have moved over way before he did

why do people rekon the STi is the fastest thing on earth. power to weight on a UK STi = 180bhp per tonne

power to weight on a 182 = 169bhp per tonne , 172cup =170bhp pertonne
put a few breathing mods as mentioned (simply a few hundred quid on a car that costs nothing to start with) and you have UK STi pace.

dont forget 180bhp pertonne on impreza doesnt take into account transmission loss also. when you see and STi pull away its the suddern turbo torque pull but its not impossible to keep pace with one even if they guy was driving crappy in the vid.

fwd cars understeer but a well setup coiloverd one like on the vid wont understeer as much as a stock wrx i bet, only in the wet can it have an advantage (which unfortunatley is most of the year lol )

ohh and dont forget astra vxr`s come with 240hp alfa gta with 250 so the UK sti isnt really far ahed in terms of straight line (considering weight, trans loss) to any current powerfull hatchback imo, still fast but a remapped golf gti could easliy keep with one on the straights or just a stripped cup/williams with a few mods and a good driver

  A silver Honda
Quite a narrow track!

Looks like great fun with all the undulations.

Quality driving again:race:

  Elise/VX220/R26
awsome stuff, bit hairy near the beginning looks like you almost rear ended him where that mini span off maybe that looked worse on the vid than it was. A good leason taught to the Sti driver lol no point going to a track day and tickling the car round the track like he looked to be, top vid anyway usually find track vids mind numbingly boring but that was ace :D

  Audi TT 225 Quattro
please don't drive like that at fcs, most of us still want a chance;) , quality driving mate, good vid too:D

  Fiat Coupe 20v turbo
cheers guys... i think it takes a couple of visits to really get the hang of cadwell...I was going a good 5 secs faster this time over the first time i drove the track. Car is running sweet...not sure whether cams are needed? lol
