Please help on oil for 1.2 16v.

Hi,

Have a 2002 1.2 16v clio, and want to do an oil change. Looked in the service book and it ranged oils from 0W30 upto 10W50 not saying which one to actually use.

I decided upon a 10W40, which I bought, as the milage is 47k, so presumed it'd be better for the engine on cold starts than the 5W40, but I come on here and everyone says 5W40!!!

Will it make much diference? Wouldn't 10W be better in the summer than 5W??

Should I take the oil back and exchange it for 5W?

Help. Many thanks.

Shouldn't make that much difference, i've just put 10w40 in mine this morning as the only 5w40 I could find was halfraulds own and I needed some, had 5w30 in it before and that was what I always put in my 1.2.
Its not a F1 engine at the end of the day, it won't make any difference.

You use the oil most approprate in the cold climates 0-30 is needed.

5-40 or 10-40 are fine for the UK so long as temps are above 15 degress. 5 -40 will offer better cold protection though.
