please help!

when i put the foot down in my mk2 ph2 the gear stick pulls as if tryin to pull out of gear, kinda like it stiffens up then when i take foot of it becomes loose again.

100% normal, the car has a solid gear linkage so when the engine moves the gearstick also moves

as fred says they don't have a cable type shift but sort of a rod that goes from the shifter to the box so any movement is directly transferred. If its really bad it might be worth changing the Dogbone mount as they do get worn over time. This reduces engine movement and as a result gearstick movement.
