***PLEASE HELP***

helo, right im looking at buyin a valver very shortly. 1 problem insurance. I have got quote upon quote upon quote and its just not an option at 17. I plan to garage the car for the next 10 months or so to carry out all the mods i want to do, then hopefully after that have a yrs no claims to make the insurance a little more bearable.

The garage is literally 500yds down the road from me but i cannot work on it at the garage it would have to be at home so i will need to drive it to and from the gagrge.

Is there any sort of policy i can take out to cover me for this sort of situation?? I wouldnt have been so bothered but unfortunately the road exits onto a busy main road, a bit of an accident blackspot.

Please help!!!

Cheers, Jack.

tbh i know you want a valver, but it would be better to buy a 1.2/1.4 and have and have that a few years, get driving skills, that way your insuence will be cheaper and you will appreciate the valver more when you get it.

Not saying you are a bad driver, but at 17 you lack the driving experience to handle the car at higher speeds, and the judgement to know when it is appropriate to go faster.

Trust me i know, been driving for a year now, in all honesty my driving could still improve, and as much as id like to have a fast car i still feel that i dont have the driving experience to full control it and to fully enjoy it. After all you dont want o buy a nice valver, and then 2 months down the line put it into a ditch after a night out, cus trust me, tiredness on its own presents problems. When you are an inexperienced driver it is very hard to judge braking distances in the wee small hours when uve been dancing all night, its dark, u have ur m8s pissed and egging you on, and you are tired. Fortunatly i have had no crashes, but i have a had a few near misses, that only my quick reactions have been able to prevent.

This is just my personal opinion.

if you are insistant on getting a valver try gettign it in ur parents name, im wiht CIS, they have reps that come around and deal wiht you personally, my rep insures my whole family, even tho i have my insurence in my mums name, he knows that i havent had any crashes, and he treats my insurence liek my own, so i am building up my no claims bonus, as well as my mum, and technically she has two insurence policies in her name.

yeah ive thort about that route a lot but if i bought a 1.2 or 1.4 i know me being me would plough loads of money into it then not be able to sell it a year or 2 down the line, at least with this i will have the car i want and will have a project for the next year or so to keep me going. and as i said itll be garged for the next year so i wont be driving it. by the time the year or so is up ill have nearly 2 years driving experience and ill nearly be 19.

I know there are plenty of 19yr old valver drivers out there who respect the roads and mother nature enough not to go stupid when they shouldnt. Then there are the other ones who give everyone else a bad name, same as all car insurance for young people. 3 of my friends that have passed their tests in the last year have written of their cars, all of them being FEMALE. This isnt attacking females just tryin to explain a point that insurance companies put up premiums for males in some cases uneccesarily, its more down to the individual drive than people think, just because someone is a certain sex it doesnt automatically mean they will drive more carefully. and on the topic of points my only other mates with points on their licence are FEMALE! Its a real shame insurance isnt done on more of a personal level. But its not going to change unfortunately!!! rant over!!!
