Car  Ziel Nurburgring


My GFs Uncle (both 24 and best friends) was involved in a horrific RTA last night. Driver was speeding in poor conditions and he was in the back, hes now in intensive care with a broken neck, broken pelvis, both legs are shattered (With bones breaking the skin) and a some internal injuries.

The car was rolled through central railing, rolled a few more times across the other carrigewayand ended up in an unregognisable state. All this due to speeding and crappy road conditions.

Just take care over the christmas/winter period, its just not worth it.

its not just these months, speeding on the road is dangerous at all times, the limits are there for a good reason

Sorry to hear about that. Totally agree with you - too many drivers think theyre invincible...yes even the ones who reckon they are amazing drivers.

I think it takes a major accident to make a driver realise what can happen when their sporty motor turns into a projectile.

I always remember an old mate of mine who used to drive like a nutter, and Id often warn him that someone could easily pull out infront of him. His answer was "well, thatd be their fault" yeah like it matters when youre plugged into a hospital bed.

Anyway I hope he pulls through ok :(

Hope he gets well soon, blink. I drive a van for work and because of the amount of driving I do, sometimes its easy to become a little complacent and cocky on the road. A couple of weeks ago I was driving north on the M1 (Jct 36) at 1 in the morning when a tyre blew out and there was no choice in the matter: the van hit the central reservation, tumbled onto its side and went sliding along the motorway, ending up facing the on-coming traffic. I didnt even get a scratch, but man was that a scary experience! The following week, drove down to London in the 182 like an incontinent granny!
 


Sorry to hear, Ive had a few close ones and have learnt my lesson! My best mate died in a car crash a few years back - by an on coming car. Best bet is to stay off the speed until its clear of other cars, so if you do want to spin out of control the only one person in any kind of danger is the driver (no offence), and not an innocent party. SAFE DRIVING! and I know it goes without saying I guess, but stay off the booze too! Again, safe driving.

I trashed a Renault traffic van just over a year ago, you should have seen the mondeo i hit, scrap totaly, van was fine tho, but it was his fault as his scrap had no brake lights and he had been ordered to get them fixed by a copper over a month before i hit him!

Lost my job over that one and it wasnt my fault! even if i did slam into him from behind

My point is cars arnt safe, theyre soft like cheese but people think they be fine becase metal is tougher than skin...

you all take it easy, and ill see you at easter

i learned nearly the hard way stacked my 172 cup racing another car which was stupid as it wasnt on a motorway or anything

people remember tracks are for speed roads are for commuting yea

where bouts was it?

hearin lots of stories bout accidents, def noticed that my drivin has matured since i have had this car

also i drive a van durin the day n ya see some of the idiots on the roads(no offence to anyone but its the BMW n audi drivers of this world mainly) n im a lot more aware of my own drivin n drivin safely

I couldnt agree with that more. Actually it annoys me that some car makers, in particular Ford over recent years, have marketed their cars using young children in the back seat with teddy bears and what not. It has always annoyed me.

Its high time we saw some public information programmes on TV, showing what even the safest car looks like after a proper accident.

I think it was Top Gear or 5th Gear that did a test a while back - two remote controlled real cars, driving at 60 mph, which many of us feel safe at, were driven head on...closing speed of 120mph into a dead stop. Each car was minced meat and there would have been NO survivors. Think about that next time youre driving safely at 60mph on a country lane...are you sure you can make that overtake safely? Food for thought.

Sorry, dont mean to be morbid or a judge of drivers. I just feel that most of us really dont realise that our cars are basically made of tin foil. Even the safest cars are tombs if you crash into anything solid at 40mph or above, and a head on impact on a country lane is game over.

My moto is enjoy your car but always know you can stop if theres a anything round that next corner.

For the record a I had a nasty exereince a few years back, where I was driving at what I thought was an ok speed round a corner...lets just say someone was using my side of the road coming the other way...luckily I managed to steer into what was luckily a soft ditch, and end up on my roof facing the wrong way. Had I hit the guy, I wouldnt be posting this. To be honest Ive always driven like a pussy ever since, although I still have fun when I feel like its safe...mainly at night when you can see if theres any oncoming cars.
 


Just got an update with his injuries so far.

Fractured skull, broken neck, punctured lung, broken pelvis and both legs broken as above.

He went in for an minimum 8hr op at about 2pm and his family are in a right mess. So remember, its not just your life you might be ruining, think of the people around.

Fcuk man thats nasty..its a lesson we might all want to learn, about what happens to people inside 1 ton+ projectiles.

As said before people just dont take the advice and slow down until it happens to THEM!!

Speaking from personal experience, Ive slowed down after being on the recieving end of someone elses reckless driving. Im still recoving from my injuries after 16 months.

My injuries where as follows.

Fractured Skull, Broken arm, Broken Ribs, Collapsed Lung, Damaged Spleen, Burns to both feet, Shattered Femur (2" came out of the skin), Shattered jaw. 5 pints of blood. and 8+ hrs on the operating table.

Is speeding worth 3 wks in hospital (1 week in intesive care!!)

This is another warning that I am pleased I have seen! Hope its also helping others learn from this stuff! HOPE THIS GUY MAKES A FULL RECOVERY AS SOON AS POSS!

As someone said the other day, keep your speed down and turn your sounds up this time of year!

Nobody knows where the sign came from unless the guy who lives in one of the nearby farm cottages did it, since the car ploughed over his field that has crops growing in it! The young couple escaped - she had a black eye he had nothing wrong! :o

Hope the people above get well very soon!
 


Thanks for all your support, but he didnt make it through last night.

Driver and other passenger walked away with minor injuries.
