Point and click for around £150

My birthday is coming up soon and im looking to replace my old point and click. I have little to no knowledge of cameras and it will get rarely used but obviously I want to take the best pictures I can with my limited know how.

If it will get rarely used wouldn't it be just as well to use your phone camera, assuming you have a decent phone cam? Mine can take nice sharp 8 megapixel shots and I doubt they are massively worse than a compact can do. Ok it can't zoom.....!
