Points , Gold membership , ect

Ive just joined XBL with my free 1 month gold membership ( from nearlly 3 years ago )

Can somebody explain about the membership system , gold , silver , ect.

Also i want to play/download Shadow Complex and it's 1200 points , i don't have any whats that all about? How do i get points?

I'm a little lost ( pure live noooob )

right gold means you can do everything you want
silver means you can buy things but not play online

points are the online currency you can buy them with your credit card and then swap them for games and films etc

gold means you can play in online multiplayer whereas silver is free, and just lets you browse, not letting you participate

You have to buy microsoft points, theres a deal on here now if you search, think its £7 for 2100 points

has to be credit card if done via XBL but you can buy them from any games shop/supermarket/ebay/ or other online stores, these can be paid by normal means.

If done outside of XBL you get a code which you enter in, XBL brought points get auto added.

no it doesnt! i have used my Visa Debit card to setup my Gold account and add points etc.

maybe it was just me then, wouldn't allow my HSBC debit card to set up my gold account said it had to be cc.

i wish i could have used my debit card!

thats how i added it, previously i couldn't because it was maestro.

Just bought some points , ive tried to input the code on the same page as i would download SC and it says " code isn't valid for this offer " any help would be great.

you should already have it now mate, they upgraded everyone (or so i thought) a few months back, no need to wait till the card expires.

suffice to say iirc, any Visa, Amex or Mastercard works with buying XBL and Points.

lol! personally, compared to my Maestro its great, can actually use it pretty much everywhere now.

what do you think is better? and dont say Mastercard as they are shite (from experience). :rasp:

Right i'm playing SC and it seems mint ( want to wait till night rime to hammer it ) so it's DL to my HDD , can i play it without being connected to live? ie Ethernet cable across the floor?
