poly windows ...

  Golf TDI
i was wanting some more info on plastic replacement windows , most of all the safety of them when leaving your car on the road etc overnight . can they be pushed through easy ? if you opt for sliding windows , whats stopping pissed young lads coming along opening the sliders and taking a piss in my motor ? also can people get in through the sliders etc . and finally the best places to buy and a expected price ....:)

The best place to get them as far as i know is plastics4performance who supplied mine and they were really helpful and arrived pretty much when they said although i cann't help you too much regarding the price as mine are mk1 windows. If you go for sliders you can ask them to put little grub screws in them which locks them from the inside meaning the piss wil only come in through the bolt holes lol. Whether they can be pushed though really depends on how you fit them, mine are in low spec rubbers but your rear 3 will need bonding in i reckon.

Only one other thing i've found is that they are a bugger to see out of if they're, wet, dirty or it's night time.

Hope this helps

Speak to P4P ,great company, great products, tell them we recommended you :)

of course there are shortcomings, security etc, a bit like the shortcomings of glass being weight etc

Tbh if it is mostly road miles i would not suggest them

You have seen we have them on our track car, they can be very noisey and very flexy at motorway speeds. Also really annoying at any sort of parking meter style thing.

Ours are 3/4 mm can not remember exactly with a rally slide that can be locked from the inside with a pin. but tbh i would not feel that safe leaving it on a busyy road ect if i was not able to see it. (car is always garaged at home)

I would not have them on a road car. we rarely drive the track car and if we do its for a "drive" not a trip to shops ect.

i'm after a rear pair of windows for a mk2 clio, but none of the one's i've seen fit properly, it seems there's a rubber seal to go with the OE glass that "fills" the windows out a bit, adds to the OE look

sites i have seen only do kits for all the windows apart from the windscreen . however if your going to do it you might aswell change the front .

Can you not run the front poly windows, not fixed. So connect them to the electric window mechanism or get a windy window mechanism. Then you wouldnt need a slider.

lol, no point in having the windows then.

and like mark says they scratch really easily.

I want to buy the rear screen only, if anyone wants side windows, PM me and we'll sort something out so we can buy a set and split it.
