Popping exhaust/dancing revs.

Hi people, just wonderin what my problem might be. When the car is idle after a few minutes the exhaust occassionally makes a popping noise and when this happens the revs needle dances and fluctates slightly. Taken the car out for a 10 minute spin but it seems ok. Well stumped!!!:S

It's normal.....and I kinda like it. It's just a lumpy wee motor tbh.

Yea same mate, i have an aftermarket exhaust and mines lumpy when idle too. I had my mot and one of my lamda sensors needed replacing this seemed to make it 'less lumpy' but that could of been a phsycological thing lol

Thanx guys. Thought it might be normal, but never noticed it before. Only had my MOT done a couple of weeks ago. Just out of curiosity, whats a lamda sensor??

Sensors that go before and after the cat to check it's working properly.

I had the same problem when I had a 1.2. Does it feel down on performance? Mines had leaky seals which meant some oil got into the cylinders. Flashed in the exhaust manifold with the pressure decreased from the cylinder.
