Portraits (My First attempt)

So.

Many of you have seen my Landscapes. I now want to broaden my field and knowledge and maybe start making a bit of money on weekends. So I'm learning portraits.

Today I had my first one and it was a young couple who are expecting. So we did some 'baby bump' images down on the beach. My shoot was free of charge as I had no idea how they would come out and that I'm trying to increase my porfolio.

All my images were taken with my Nikon D5000 hardly a pro body and with natural light, no flash, no reflection disks. I went for a slightly vintage PP.

Let me know what you think. The feedback on TP has been fairly good and the couple are happy which is the most important part.

Cracking.

I really like the editing. It's put a really nice spin on the shots.

Glad the couple are happy, that is the most important thing after all.....

Maybe watch out for shadows across the face (#3 for example), otherwise all good

The photos look great Scott! The only thing (in my opinion) that lets the photos down are the couple's facial expressions. They look 'empty'... which is no wrong doing of your own mate!

You have some serious skills my man!

Photos are well exposed and composed but can't see the link between the seascape and them. Perhaps a more natural, intimate, cosy setting? They also look really unhappy, I too am all for natural light portraits. It is so important to have a rapport with the subjects so that they relax enough.
