Possible blonde crossover question

  Ph1
Im pretty poo when it comes to the ICE side of things but over a year back i got a mate to wire up my system and recently found that ive got the speakers pluged through only one active crossover.

Do you usually get 2 crossovers in a pack of components and if so, will there be any less sound quality with them being wired only through one ??

Cheers :)

Don't you mean passive cross-over.

Yes you normally get 2 in with the speakers.

Not sure what problems it could cause, maybe too much current passing though the components in the passive. I don't think it would cause a problem resitance wise

EDIT: I think you would be running mono instead in stereo as well

Yeah passive cross-over, i think lol

What do they do anyway? I thought it was something to do with sound clarity

They sepearate the signal between the tweets and the mids. You would want low hz going to your tweets would ya they would die

Basically the only 'problem' would be as chromeclio said, potentially overloading the crossover, and you definately would be running Mono, not stereo.

Off the top of my head im sure its 2 per port, 4 wires into it in total. Could be 8 wires tho. Been a long time since ive had the dash top off.

Whats the maximum amount of wires there meant to hold before they become ineffective at their intended job?

a x-over will have :

1 input pair
1 mid output
1 tweeter output

you should only connect one mid and one tweeter to one x-over(not including 3-way x-overs)

adding more will just kill the x-over as you will be pulling more current through it and losses will start to increase
