Possible Damage? Help needed

On saturday i was on a motorway, and pulled onto a slip road for a service station. Clearly i was breaking hard to slow down, and in the process hit a f**king big pot hole (front left wheel) under braking.

It was big enough for me to lose control, but i pulled over to check damage. Apart from a scuffed wheel/tyre there is no visible damage. However when i turn hard right now, i get a scraping noise coming from that wheel/corner.

There is no noise going in a straight line, only when i turn a hard right.

Anyone hazzard a guess what could be wrong, or what i should be checking?

Many thanks, Dan.

It could be you have bent the subframe or suspension arm back and the rear of the wheel is rubbing on the wheel well.

The impact could have dislodged the wing liner or the under tray, or the wheel could be slightly buckled. Might be worth getting it on some ramps so you can have a proper look.

any other ideas?

i'll get the tracking done and the camber checked to be on the safe side... but its the rubbing noise when turning right im not liking much :(

Tracking will tell you if something is bent, thats most likely IMHO.

Put some lock on and see if its hitting the bodywork.

Dan make sure you report that!

the thing is, i know it was on the A34 somewhere southbound... about 10 miles from the M3 turnoff... but thats all i know. Little service place with a Thieving Chef and burger king. Heh.

had a small slip road so had to break hard and BANG!

take the front strut off, it'll be fairly obvious if its bent (they nomally bend above the ABS wire bracket)

hope you took some pictures of the pothole??? you can claim off the council

is there an easier way to check if somethings bent?

full lock and see it if rubs? I dont fancy taking the strut off, mainly because i dont know how.

its easy to take it off

1x21mm top cap
2x21mm bottom bolts (i think, they might be 19mm)

does it just slide out the same as the rear ones?

nothing else to take off?

Okay, just had the front off and its fine...

been for a drive and decided the noise is actually coming from the rear, which had new shockers fitted a few days ago.

must be these im thinking.
