post washing - drying towel or chamois

After washing my car with shampoo I give it a good going over with a drying blade and then use a chamois for any remaining water before polishing. I've heard that chamois' aren't as good as drying towels. What should I use?

Drying towel, waffle weave are good for absorbancy.

Use the blade if there is a lot of water on the body, just to get off the excess.

Blade is a no no, much safer to use a towel for all of it. Can easily scratch the car with a blade.

Fair enough, thats why i stopped using a shammy, felt way to harsh and put scratches in my mums new suzuki swift.

It's not a problem really to use the blade on the glass (i.e. the windows) but I wouldn't use it for anything other than that.

quick question...absolutely stupid one i know...do you just lie it on the car and then take it off again, or use it like a chamois/microfibre and actually rub the car dry?

I think the pro's dab it on the car to cause minimal scratches, but i think most will rub it with very little pressure as they work very well

Lose the blade a drying towel will be fine, I lay them on the panel and let them suck up the water, on the side panels just use them to blot.
