Potentiometer fault

  Mk2 Clio 182
Hi there just got my Clio 182 on Saturday and ran a code reader through it and found potentiometer fault I’ve got a lumpy idle and it’s a bit lumpy in first after 3k when the thermostats cold but is fine after. Any help would be appreciated don’t want to replace everything as she needs a new belt and dephaser already.

Which potentiometer, there's two? You've got a tracked pair at the pedal and another pair at the throttle body.

Ideally, you're going to need to get a scope on the tracks and look for noise in the signals. If they're all nice and clean and range correctly, you're going to need to do some drop/load testing on the wiring from pedal to ECU and then ECU to throttle body.

Cheers so one code reader said that it was both potentiometer but another code reader said circuit speed sensor fault so a bit of a mystery at the moment. Checked the white connector under the fuses and found some corrosion so cleaned that up and the fault is a bit more sporadic.

If it were both, you wouldn't have anything more than 2.5krpm. Sounds more wiring related but you still really need to do some basic component and wiring tests to be able to say with confidence "it's fixed"

Yeah that’s the plan belt and dephaser first then sort that out doesn’t effect performance at the moment but need it done before the mot
