powder coating questions

I want to powder coat my wheels satin black/v.dark grey:

Has anyone any experience of powder coating?

How long does it take? They are my only wheels so is it a case of done while you wait?

Is a satin finish harder to maintain than gloss?

Are there good and bad powder coaters or is it a set thing?

How much should it cost?

our turn around time is 24hours for a set of 4 wheels (we can do it in a day)

we give you a loan set whilst yours are being done (we also offer a while you wait service, 8am car comes in, car will be ready by 5pm)

satin Vs gloss, both the same in terms of cleaning (gloss is slightly easier)

there are some cowboys in the industy that don't stip the wheels back to bare metal before powdercoating, also some people apply far too much

powdercoat is the toughest finish available

guide price for 16's = £180 for all 4 wheels inc tyre removal+refit+balance

These are my anthracite ones I got done by Fred

I've found them hardwearing but you just have to be careful cleaning them as I found they scratched slightly when I used a sponge that had a bit of grit on (bit silly really but only did it once! lol) - only a lambswool washmitt for me now!

Its the scratching i'm worried about. I like the way they can currently stand up to a good scrub, so I dont want to lose that toughness.

But that stealth bomber/batmobile look is just so seductive.

the powdercoat + lacquer we use mean that you DON'T have to scrub the wheels

spray on fairy power spray, leave for 30min, the jet wash = clean wheels NO scrubbing

(unless you have race pads!!!!!)

I got my 18s powdercoated black a couple of months ago and they have been real easy to clean and look after!
Got pics but dunno how to stick them up!

lol shame ive just moved job or else i would have done em for ya!!!
all i used to do was orbital the wheels off to get most of the paint off,
then with my willy wheels i coated them in a gloss black, then did 2 coats of laquor and they came out awsome!!
