Power loss, help please!

  RenaultSport clio 172 mk2
Driving home yesterday the engine light and electrical warning came on and the engine wouldn't rev past about 3500, my OBDII reader tells me it's a fault with the throttle position sensor, does that sound right? And if it does, what is the appropriate thing to do? Any advice will be much appreciated.

had a similar problem on my 1.4 would go past 60mph and rubbish response. Felt like the car was rocking when idle, turned out to be the coil pack got mine replaced under warranty though.

no, the engine runs fine, it just won't rev past 3500, seems to be the normal amount of torque till it gets to 3200.

Clean the throttle body and check for loose conections etc.

Check the EGR valve and clean.

Thanks edde, finally got around to cleaning the throttle body over the weekend, it's now running very well, throttle response is improved and no sign of the warning light returning! Thanks again!
