Power loss since cam belt change?

  172 Cup On A Diet
I had my cam belt changed yesterday By a mechanic I know quite well. He had all the correct timing tools etc. Do any body know if that timing could still be out or if there is anything else it can be?

From what i hear timing the f4r's is a b**ch! Has your mechanic had any previous experience with timing an f4r before? As from what i've read on here even some specialists get it wrong!

You could allways take it to a specialist to check the timing i think thats only around an hours labour or so as long as they dont have to retime it! Fred at BTM is down in birmingham. Or Trade and save are meant to be pretty good in gloucester (dont let the name put you off!)

Take it to Carlton cars to check the timing ( or BTM if you fancy a longer drive before your belt snaps)

Its not really. If youve not worked on a car newer than 1990 then maybe

I know someone very experienced with F4r's in bristol, will probably come to your house too. (He has the proper tools)

pm me if you're stuck.

Or, another suggestion... why not take it back to the guy that did it and (whilst being nice) explain the situation. If he is the genuine mechanic you claim he should check it for you and rectify any problems and for free (unless the timing turns out to be spot on in which case you buy him a drink for his extra efforts).

We are all human and everbody makes a mistake at some point... its how you deal with your mistakes that counts so give him the oppertunity.
