Power steering failure WTF lol

Car  182
just failed on me today going round a round about after a brief stint of hard driving on bumpy roads playing with an S2000, most wierd

any idea's?

Fan belt hasn't snapped has it? not sure it it works the same on clios but on an old Escort that snapped and my power steering went. Other than that check your power steering reservoir to see if it's been leaking.

Similar thing happened twice on my 1.4 clio, was the auxiliary belt coming off.

Luckily both times were fixed by the RAC guy. 1st guy just refitted, 2nd time the guy replaced it with a belt he had in his van I think. Think the groves of the belt had worn down as it was rubbing on something.

I had my main PS pipe go on my old 172. Complete c**t of a job to fix.

Although IIRC, its easier on non a/c equipped cars.

well more development today, replaced the fluid and it went straight though, leaking and pissing.

now when i put lock on the a loud whining/rubbing etc sound that rises and falls with the revs

gargling sound going on aswell

so, is it leaking from somewhere?

the system needs bleeding as well, which might explain the gargling noises, but obv. no point in continuing if there's a leak

power steering pump has gone basically, fluid is now stained all over f0xy's driveway and housing estate lol.

how ironic it goes the week i have off work

my cup did the same thing which made the last owner crash it, i got a new pump for £30 off ebay

update: the one of the hoses has sprung a leak £176 +VAT eek, on top of that a new pump too

i'm looking into fitting a smaller aux belt now and just bypassing the PAS, give my arms a workout!!
