Power steering question on VALVER

  Williams

Hope someone can help.....the power steering on my 16v clio seems to tighten up when cornering, almost like its not working, but it is. Also the fluid comes out of the top of the pas fluid bottle under the bonnet.

I cant see a min or max mark on the pas bottle. when i remove the lid the fluid is about 1 inch below the top of the filler cap.

Any ideas???

Unlikely to be the rack so id say the pump - they usually make a screeching noise if theyre on theyre way out. If you havent got any excessive noise then check the belt running the pump...it could simply be loose.

Wouldnt worry about the fluid coming out of the bottle as this will be a side effect of whatevers wrong...

cambelt doesnt have anything to do with the power steering.

As a side note, i had fluid coming out of my PAS reservior and it was just a dodgy seal - obviously check fluid level (somehow), and it might be worth replacing the cap and seal.

The Aux belt (i.e for the PAS pump) needs removed to do the cambelt.

The aux belt was causing the noise on mine!! got it changed and i have quiet power steering! not bad for a k-plate (1k if anyone wants it lol!)
