Powered stearing is fighting against me when i turn, HELP

i was just leaving my Gf's flat and pulling out the road when the stearing went really stiff and starting making squeeking and banging noises, but the resistance was intermitant, i.e stiff then jolting back against my turn, but only does it when i turn. there is fluid in the system and i have just had a MOT the other day. I have to fight to turn, its not constantly heavy but agressively intermitent. Very dangerous. can someone help, any ideas? Sounds Proper fucked.

Power steering pump belt slipping perhaps ?

yep belt is as lose as f**k, cant believe i didnt check that first

how do i tighten it :s

Not sure on the specifics and as my Son is out in his car at the moment, I cant look, but normally its a bolt on a sliding bracket arrangement.

just had a good look and the base of the tensioner spring is rubbing on the belt, left a faint mark on the belt, belt can move a good 2cm before becoming tight. did a search and in a few posts edde said he has a aux belt and tensioner belt change guide. dont want the belt coming off and geting caught in the cam belt ££££.

just got a scew drive and prised a gap between the belt and pully spring, it creaked and moved away from it, seems to have done the trick... for now.

found a kit, whats the rubber bush in the bag for?

That looks like the camshaft sealing bush, are you sure its part of that kit ?
Whats the part number on it MOT1487 or 1488 maybe ?

Did you have any warning signes before this happened?
My ph-quick stearings been feeling a bit odd lately. It was getting heavy as hell so I topped up the fluid and it felt much lighter but the only way I can describe how it feels now is a bit wobbly lol.

i was going to say its the idler at the bottom in the bag but it doesnt look right

parts are on ebay, not mine. your guess is as good as mine.

No just happened as i pulled out a junction, started doing what you see in the vid.
