Not quite sure what order to do this in some perhaps someone can help.

Meguiars NXT Shampoo

Scratch X?

Claybar?

#21 Sealant

NXT Wax

Is that the right order, never clayed my car before...

Wash, then Clay.

Scratch X - Hard work to do a whole car with, maybe use just where it is needed.

Then maybe look to use a mild polish such as Autoglym Super Resin, not essential but may polish out any minor marks left by the Scratch X and easier to use on the whole car.

Then either #21 or NXT wax, both do the same so no need to do both.

NXT despite the wax name in the title is normal Meguiars trying to confuse the customers, it is a sealant not a pure wax, the #21 is effectivly the trade version of NXT. The NXT also has light cleaners which will remove some if not all of the #21 if used after.

If you want to use a wax after the Sealant get a pure Carnuba wax like P21s, this will add to the looks.

Yep you want a pure carnuba mate...NXT is alright..i used to use it quite a bit on my dynamique until i discovered things like Megs #16 and Chemical Guys XXX hardcore carnuba.

Check out www.carwashnwax.com and if ordering quote ClioSport and you'll get 10% discount.

So for me (sorry to butt in clart!), being new to this as well and only being able to lay my hands on the basics:

Meguiars Gold Class

Clay Bar

???? which mild polish, as I assume my car will need a bit of cutting action?

#21 Sealant

Look into Scratch X and Autoglym Super Resin.

Alan - you on commission now mate ;)

Excellent, thanks!

I've sent Shaun (182_blue) a pm asking for a polish, wash mitt and clay bar but if he doesn't reply looks like I'll be off down Hellfrauds for:

a lambswool wash mitt
claybar
autoglym super resin

Ta.

also check out harlys wax.. get loads of it in a tin for the money and it seems brilliant! im well happy with it.

  1.6 focus zetec....
Do you have to put wax on after AG super resin and extra gloss?? Also is it best to use bug and tar remover spray before washing or use a bug and tar remover sponge??

You dont have to use a wax after AG Resin And Extra Gloss but it does add to the looks.

I dont use any sort of bug remover, when well polished and sealed, car shampoo is enough to remove bugs. For tar spots I use AG Tar and Adhesive Remover during the wash stage.

na its not bugs really that are the problem...its the tar down the side by the doors and back bumper...so you use the Ag tar and adhesive stuff before washing, after washing or put it in the bucket aswell??

Wash the car, before drying use the Tar Remover on a Microfiber and then ( rewash thsoe parts if needed) or rinse and dry.

Ahh simple as...also could you put super resin and extra gloss on a same applicator pad or would you gett he same result and my arm was killing yesterday?!?

You can apply the Resin let it dry, then go over the top using another applicator pad with the Extra Gloss, let that dry and remove them both together. Some people have mixed the two in a bottle and applied not tried it myself.

Clart,

When I had my Silver 172 the combination I found to work well post wash and clay was:

Polish -1Z metallic polish (slightly abrasive)
Sealant - Megs #21
Wax - Megs #16 or Collinite

It used to come up a treat
