Pre registered cars - a real saving

Hi all. Pre registered cars; do you think you loose more money in the re-sell situation in a few years time, than you save at the beginning?

I mean, when you come to sell a car bought as a pre-registered model, will people care enough about being the "3rd" owner that you have to lower the price more than youd have saved at time of purchase?????

Itll be very interesting to hear your thoughts :)

The idea of pre-reg cars is good in terms of the cash that you save, but youre the 2nd owner of the car (The dealer being the first), so youll be selling your car as if there was another owner apart from yourself. Also you need to be 100% certain if the car is a UK spec car purchased from the UK, rather than a UK spec car imported in (something that a few places do, motorpoint for one). Dont quote me on the next statement, but I dont think that the warranty will apply over here if the car is an import.

**Ive has an uk spec import and they sell cheaper than the equivalent UK spec and sourced car.

Suffice to say that Ive gone for a 172 cup, and loving every second of it!!

Nice one, yeah youre right; important considerations all!! This from UK Car Broker (.co.uk);

> £ 200.00 Cup Suspension
> £ 150.00 Cup Spoiler

Pretty tempting. Has since offered a flat £12k!! No AA cover, but thats the only difference from going direct to a dealer it seems.

  Cup 172

I bought mine from UK Car Broker and saved over 2 grand from list price.

Lets be honest, who really gives a sh*t if the car has technically had one more owner, who hasnt even driven it. Im sure this could be explained to a prospective buyer, and I certainly wouldnt knock anything off the resale price due to it having 1 more owner.

Thats pretty good, I mean I paid 11k for my 172 parallel import but it wasnt pre-reged, I am at least the first owner. However I wonder if the depreciation on an import vs a pre-reg is the same?

Ive got one of the motorpoint UK-spec imports. My registration documents just arrived last week and Im on as the second owner (motorpoint being the first).

My car was first registered (to motorpoint) on 1/4/04, but it states that I became the owner on 2/4/04, jst one day later. So its pretty obvious looking at that the registration document that the car has only had one owner who has actually driven it.

P.S. When I was shopping around, I couldve got a pre-registered 53 plate Cup (Dec. 03 registered) or a UK-spec imported 04 (Apr. 04) 172 for the same money. Hmm.
