pressure washing

does it take off the wax? does it do more harm than good? can i use it on the engine?

depends what temperature you running it at, on my old car I had vinyl graphics on it that were stuck on like s*** to a blanket, put the pressure washer on at 170 degrees and it literally peeled them off.

works well on engines but must cover all electrical parts with platic wraps first!

maybe spray the engine with gunk deposit remover first and aggravate with a brush, valet people use them.

To be safe go for a fairly low temperature and always wax after anyaway id say , can never have too much wax!

Personally I think pressure washers are best used for cleaning your patio as they are very good at getting off really ground in dirt and stains. I have seen one used on an older car, which had lots of stone chips that had been touched up, and guess what? The pressure washer whizzed off all the bits of touch-up paint, leaving the white chipped areas! If it does this, I am sure that it takes off wax as well.

I have a pressure washer but only clean my cobbles and patio with it. For cleaning my car I prefer to use the old fashioned hose, bucket and sponge method.

A power washer will also whizz off the stick-on wheel weights, but there are probably some which are more powerful than others. I did use it once on a wrought iron gate which had flaky paint on it, and it whizzed off all the loose stuff including bubbled blistery looking areas too, so this is another good use for a pressure washer!

In my experience they will strip the wax off no problem - they will also take the paint off if your not careful - much better to use a bucket and sponge.

I wouldnt recommend using it on an engine as you could force water into the electrics. I would use something like Auto Glym engine cleaner or Gunk if you can stand the smell and then just gently hose it off - always works well on my engine.

Dont try to pressure wash the flies out of your radiator. you will benf the fillaments and then have to replace the rad.
