Private plate question

Car  clio 182 black /gold
If i go to put my private plate on my car how long do i have to put it on? I.e if it went today do i have to put the plates on A.S.A.P or can i wait a day or two? Thanks Lee

Your supposed to wait until the documents come back from the DVLA they no longer do it over the counter. This can take up to a few weeks!!

Can you not just drive to your local DVLA office and do it there anymore?

Nope. not any more.

When I changed from Valver to 182 it only took about a week to get the plates switched over.

Pants, was planning on using one of my days off this month and going to sort mine out.

Is it by post only now then?

I just walked into my local DVLA office 2 weeks ago and got it done there and then!!

Thanks Louise. When did you put the plate on the car? That day or in a few days time?

Thats what I have always done in the past to assign and remove them.

This time Last year I did that on my 306 to remove it and put it back on its origional plate. They gave me a form to get some number plates made up and the V5 arrived in the post a few weeks later.

Im not Louise but - I did mine there and then in the car park!

They give you a new tax disc there and then with the new reg and you cool to go.

Previous two times I went to the local DVLA office in Reading and sorted it out over the counter, but this time I was told I had to send it through the post. Maybe it varies from office to office. I know that the Reading one was always really busy, and the queues were bad, which may be why they enforced the new rule there.

Well i have been and done it. It took about 40 mins 30 of them was waiting for my turn. I have a few days to put them on the car.

i think certain offices have stopped doing it

lincoln dvla still does it.. or they did 3 months ago anyway.
