private plates - retention

  tiTTy & SV650
Gonna be selling my car, whats the process involve to get my private plate off and on retention ready for my next car?

Is it about £110 inc a transfer fee for when I do put it onto my next car?

And how long does it take?

Retention can be done there and then, at your local DVLA office. just take your MOT (if needed) Insurance certificate and your tax disc. Oh, and obviously your V5.

iirc, its £120.

cheers Dan, so what happens then? Will they post me a new V5 with the old registration mark on it?

And when I leave the office I need to put the old plates back on?

Didnt realise it could be done so quickly, although I hear some DVLA offices are better than others...

when you leave the dvla, youll be given a certificate to get some new plates made up with the old number on it, a stamped green part of the V5, and a new tax disc.
