Private plates

Sorry mods if wrong section wasnt too sure where to put this....

I have found a car i may well go look at, the owner currently has a private plate on it but made out i could still come look at the car and take it away if i wanted it and he'd then sort the plate out afterwards.

Is it just work for him to organise this or will it impact on me somehow?

Once you drive away the plate is yours... up to you what you do with it then...

If he wants it, get him to take it off before you buy the car. Itll be about two weeks by the DVLA to change v5 etc.

Unless you sign to say you're taking the car on the basis of you returning the numberplate once he transfers it/puts it on retention, Giraffe is right, it's yours. Nothing the owner can do.

I don't think it'll impact you other than you having the put the original plates on - hopefully he'll have these to save you getting some made up?
