Problem with boot door...

Hey all,

Wondering if anyone can help.
Yesterday when driving I could hear a bad rattle coming from the rear. I was thinking my exhaust was falling off so I stopped but all was ok there, continued to hear the sound then as a guess I checked the boot. There was a little bit movement if you pressed the boot to try and close it further. I opened up and the little metal bit that sits just above the rear bumper in the boot was freely moving when touched. Should this be able to move or should it be static?

Any help appreciated.

I had this happen on mine. Get a torx bit and tighten the screw. You will need to adjust it to get the boot closing properly, but a little bit of playing with it will sort it!

Ok, I'm a bit stupid, how do you exactly get in to tighten it?? There seems a lot of screws around the area!!

Right, the screw the holds it in place won't budge any further so don't know what to do next.

As you can see in the top right of the pic there is a little bit broken, could this be the problem? The rattling in really noisy and annoying now!!

whats that hole on the top? is there a torx bit in there? (star shaped bolt)

if not, the trim will need to be took off, catch realligned and tightened and the trim put back on.

take it to a friend or something if you aint confident to do it, maybe your dad?

if you dont line it up properly and the boot sits too far out, the rain will get in and you'll have damp and mould n stuff.

if it shuts too far, theres the chance that it could cause damage to the inside of the tailgate or the inside of the quarter appatures.

so get it sorted as soon as you can

Yes there is a star shaped bolt in the hole at the top. This is the one that is screwed in tightly.
We have had some bad weather and luckily no water seems to be getting in.
Car getting serviced in the next couple of weeks so ill ask the garage to have a wee look at it!
