problems abt my clio cup sport

Hi guys, I got a 2001 Clio Cup Sport. Jus wanna get some help abt few questions. My first problem is I do feel my car is shaking sometimes when its stopped.(I m not sure is it from the engine, cos I can feel the car was shaking when its stopped but no problem when its running). The second problem is sometimes I cant start up the engine especially in the cold weather. But if i try to start it up again, it will be no problem at all..... is anyone know how to fix those ploblems?? By the way, I m from Hong Kong n this is my first post in this froum, its really nice to meet u guys in here. cheers!!

The shaking is probs the engine mount/s have worn. the cold starting problem is common, have you tried changing the spark plugs and the ht leads?

double prime the fuel pump before starting in cold weather, I'd wager it'll start evertime then!

I hv change the engine mount already but its still shaking........n the spark plug also changed on 100000km ( my car is 170000km on clock now), so do i need to change the new spark plug again?? thx!

non start will likely be the TDC (crankshaft sensor) on top of the gearbox, you can usually remove them, clean them and refit and that works, but sometimes they need replaced.

shaking, do you mean a gentle shaking, not a violent one? the cars have a lumpy idle as standard so they do "shake" slightly as the engine idles away

Shaking when cold? In past experience with a non Renault car it was the flywheel. also happens on VW group cars as they have dual mass flywheels but I'm not sure if Clios have a DMF. If you are sure all the engine and gearbox mounts are good and no problem with the ignition system I would be considering the flywheel and even the clutch.

spark plugs have a long service life on these cars, cant remember exactly what it is, but make sure you use the standard plugs, they are expensive, but the engine runs much better with them. they are NGK PFR6E-10

not sure if Clios have a DMF.

nope, no DMF on any mk2 clios

Shaking when the car is stopped? Warped brake discs? And by HT leads, they mean the lead that connects to the spark plug. Get some pics up, would love to see a Clio from HK!
