Problems starting since relocating battery to the boot.

Car  ph1 172
As above I've recently relocated battery and doesn't seem so keen to start on certain occasions now.

I used 16mm proper battery cable to run the length of the car. Is this heavy duty enough?

I've also put a mega fuse next to the battery. Initially I used 200 amp and had problems starting. So beefed upto 300amp and that was fine till this evening.
Wouldn't start this evening so overode the fuse, still wouldn't start. Came back to it and started.
What size fuse are other people using? And do you think 16mm cable is man enough for the job?

I've just tested the 300 amp fuse this morning and its fine.

Also started first time this morning without the fuse in.

Can anybody confirm 16mm battery cable is upto this job?

Thanks
