Problems with coilover instalation.

I hope someoen can help because Im stuck.

Ive got the bits in the drawing which seem to be misisng bits from the Haynes manual description.

The way there were installed was 5, 2, 1, 3, 4 but that means the strut top dented the bonnet and sticks up to far.

Id think the way they should be built up is 5 then a metal cover over it, 3, 4, 2 then 1 which would make the top mount stick up less.

By the way part 3 wont fit into the hole in the top of part 5

Any help apprciated.

yeah we got in a muddle in what order they had to go on........ we decided to leave out nut 4 as there was no way we could get the top mount on with the nut in place - no problems 3/4k miles down the road

im not sure what 5 is? and do 2 and 3 not go into 1 so that they spin?

Part 5 is the bump stop and the bit when the spring sits on.

Thing is the suspesnion has been on the car so I know if I put it together the right was it will fit and work.

were they originally on the car, as they always sit too high and dent the bonnet.
Yep ther were on the car Id imagined they had been installed wrong hence why they hit the bonnet.

I took the front suspension off to clean it and change the bottom ball join/s and driveshafts.

the way you installed it is correct.
You mena sbonnet dents are how they should be?

Doesnt seem very well designed if it should dent the bonnet.

When you take the strut off there 36mm of spare thread there even its in plate there must be 1 cm of thread above the top of the top strut bit.

Exactly, they are stupid.

The problems shouldnt be there, and they have been on the market long enough that it should be fixed, its only the top of the piston shaft which needs shortning.
