Processor question

anyone know the difference between these two?

Intel® Core™ i5-520M (2.4GHz, 4 Threads, turbo Boost up to 2.93GHz, 3M cache)

Intel Pentium dual-core processor t9600 (2.80ghz, 1066mhz, 6mb)

which is best?

The i5 is a much newer mobile processor and can carry out 4 threads unlike the T9600 2 threads. Also the i5 carrys many more features eg: Hyper-Threading.

have an i7-720QM laptop, needs quick memory and HDD to go with it but very effective!

You can't put the quad core processors into a dual core chassis if that's what you mean?

No it has 2 cores.

They will be both completely different socket fitments. You'll need a compatible mobo for either of them.

my laptop takes a T9600 but was just wondering if it would accept a i5

No i5 is socket 998

and t9600 is socket 478 which I pursume you have.
