Project CARS 2

  RS Clio 182
A couple of hot laps at Knockhill. The 2nd one in the McLaren is 6th on the leaderboard atm - a very twitchy car,you really have to feather the controls, but very quick when nailed. The Astra is a nice car to drive also. That first downhill section you can lose it so easily in any car and ive still yet to master the final corner - cost me some time.

Still a lot of bugs in the game that need sorting on the next update. Been a few times where I’ve come out the pits and been DQ for going the wrong way. I think this game would look a lot better if I was playing it on my 65inch in the UK.

I managed to play this on a mates PC today, Wow. What a difference in terms of graphics compared to my own XO version.

Id definitely say that the Xbox one is at its limits trying to run this, It looks no different to the first one really and actually seems to struggle at times, Been a few slow downs when running a large grid on various circuits and the FPS just doesnt seem stable, Guess ill need to get an X when they are released then LOL

So does this game require a 4k tele to get the best out the graphics?

To see 4K content on a say a 40" 4K/UHD screen you'd have to sit 2ft in front of it. If you had a 60" screen the optimal viewing distance is around 4ft.So for you to see 4K/UHD in my front room with a viewing of 8ft I'm looking at a 90"+ screen.
Which is why I believe it's misleading, the human eye can't see the extra resolution at normal viewing distances. It might be worth it if you have a dedicated gaming station but your still looking at sitting right in front of a 60" screen to benefit from the 4K/UHD which is still HDx2 not x4

What's the handling like? I'll be playing on Xbox One with a controller, and I'm worried it will be just a dodgy as PC1!

I found a video with some controller settings that were really good. Slight disappointment you have to change them from standard again but it's really quite good. I'll grab the link if anyone wants to try them.

I will be getting the wheel out in a few minutes though, take advantage of being off work for the week and really get into the career.

Haha what's your lap times at your favourite tracks? Let's see how s**t a pad really is

Not done much yet naturally, but try Brands Indy with Time Attack Evo, authentic assists, i.e none :tongueout:.
0:43 something

Couple of other cars I've set records with but can't recall, will let you know later!

Managed a 51s lap using the Clio cup at Brands Indy on PC1 so should be doable on a pad.

Maybe a wheel would help, but Front-dragging cars in PC1 were always undriveable understeer-warriors.

I get how that isn't far removed from reality but wow it was painful. Having a pedal with degrees-of-on would maybe help.

Anyone using a T300RS wheel with this?

Tried it last night and the FFB is terrible, can't feel what the car is doing at all.
Is that similar to the TX wheel?

I had to tweak the settings to get it feeling good, Got it at a good place but could probably be improved even more.

Also, anyone else ran the Knockhill community challenge? That caterham is a right handful! Currently on a 51.79 but recon i can get into the 50's with some more laps and a setup tweak

You never drove the Megane 275?

I swear the arse would swing out even at full throttle.

I probably haven't, being fair.
The Focus Rs and Clio Cup were as far as I went down that road. Trying to do Brands in the Clio was just a story of nose-first-into-wall.

Admittedly, 90% of the fault can be laid directly at my useless meat-hooks, but I can pedal those GT Capri's around Snet without a bother.

tbh as soon as it rains you might as well give up in the 620R. It's a massive handful unless you're playing with daddy can I try settings.

43.780 using a pad and no assists. Still a second or so to gain I reckon.

Yet as quick as you with a wheel making you utter gash!

You know how much assistance there is with a pad? All my times on pc are with a game pad for PC1. If you think driving with a pad and being faster is because you're better, then I don't know what to tell you lol

It's not something you can disagree on, really. There is a fair amount of assistance with a pad. Ask Ian Bell, he's probably the man to listen to lol
Then why is every lap record set by a wheel if its easier with a pad? Oh and 'all' your records on PC1 are set with a pad? A quick browse on the PC leaderboards at Brands Indy with the TME Evo says otherwise as below, controller: wheel with ABS on and Stability on! Let me guess its harder on PC as well :tongueclosed:

Oh and why would I want to listen to a Cricketer regarding a racing sim?

It may have a bit more assistance with pad compared to wheel, but it's far from easy i'd say.

I know what @Silent_Scone is saying about it looking like it's on rails too. Cars just seem to turn a lot sharper than they do when i use a wheel.
