To be fair if your not any good at racing games anyway your going to struggle but it was never made to please people like that! If your into forza and gt you wont have a problem if you've been playing destiny and just decided to jump on this and give it a go its not going to work for you

That's the thing, I'm a forza/gt player and I'm struggling, to the point where I turn it off due to not being able to complete a qualifying lap because I keep putting four wheels off track, some cars are worse than others though.
I've been trying to do a race with the R8 V10, I've tried 4 times today angry given up every time.

Best way too help anybody out to getting used to this game is try the BMW Z4 GT3 around monza.. If you start crashing and unable too complete a lap at that then the games not for you end of.

The Forza/GT players WILL struggle with this game, you have to be a lot more precise with your driving and have a lot more concentration - this is isnt an arcade car collecting game,i think this is the problem with a lot of more casual gamers playing this - they are going round the first corner on cold tyres, losing it,and then complaining about it!

I havnt experienced any lag whatsoever - but iam on the PS4 version and ive heard the XBOX version doesnt perform aswell.

I managed to complete the clio cup last night and won the championship. I like the fact you can't stop concentrating or it'll punish you.

I've never agreed with anyone who thinks Forza/GT are proper 'sim' racers.

This game is more like the SimBin family of games like GTR2 or comparable to iRacing

This is probably the first ever sim to go to consoles (that I can remember) and I think it's only really going to be truly rewarding with a wheel

The only thing that annoys me is that Glencairn circuit - the bumps are too severe for karts which is weird but I'll be past it when I get home today I guess

Controller update makes a work of difference, don't okay the game until you've done that.

The caterham classics don't get warm tyres, ever, they're so s**t to control. Understeer, understeer, unde...oversteer!

  Mk4 Mondeo Estate
Played it using the Xbox controller and thought it was very hard and totally agree what everyone is saying. Then I started playing with the Thrustmaster TX wheel and it feels like a completely different game. Absolutely love it now!

  Vectra SRi
Well my wheel turned up.. oh my what a difference! I'm using it on my lap for now as my stand won't be here for a little while but my God does it change the whole experience! I even managed to keep the Atom on the track for a whole lap, with cold tyres!! Just need to gradually get faster!

Also tried my first online race.. I will never complain about the AI again! What a bunch of idiots, it was more like demolition derby that a racing sim! We need some CS only races!

Anyone who wants to add me on PS4... dar_williams

I'd happily invest in a wheel to get the most out of it, but the other bugs would still be there. I don't see the point in spend a couple of hundred on a wheel when the game still slows to a crawl at certain points every lap!

Needs serious work imo. Get rid of the bugs, add a decent selection of cars and it would be much improved.

I keep reading about lots of bugs and mainly from Xbox One users. I bought the game for my PS4 and the only bug I've experienced was a loss of engine sound when I started a race but I restarted the session and the sound returned. I've had no issues involving the car going into full steering lock.

Is the lack of cars all down to licensing?

The game seems to have added a load of stuff you want but don't get in other racing games, yet left a load of stuff out that you get in other racing games.

You're also not able to see what tyres you're on or what your competitors are running on (unless I've missed something), which makes it difficult planning a strategy.

This is the first sim racing game I've ever played and I'm really enjoying it. Just started the 250cc Superkart championship so I thought I would upload a video from part 2 of the first race at Dubai Autodrome. Any tricks or tips would be good.

PS. I'm using the controller at the minute but I'm really considering a cheap wheel such as the T80 or T100?

Surprisingly very easy to drive fast. I was expecting it to be the total opposite.

Probably one of the easiest cars I've found to be able to drive with a controller! And sticks to the road, just watch out for the high curbs though !

I've found one of the setups above suits me pretty well if I leave a couple of the assists on, so going to leave it at that for now. See if I can improve in the game in general then turn them off at a later date

The Chesterfield kart track is the most frustrating track I've driven, cannot get it right. The kart just never seems to turn in properly there either. Nowhere near as bad as anywhere else on the kart championship.

I veer from enjoying it a bit, then 5 mins later wanting to throw the xbox out the window. It's far too prescriptive in the way it demands you drive. Once nearly any car starts to slide, there's very little chance to recover. It's actually harder to skid/drift in the game than real life.

Can't figure out if it's crap physics or horrendous controls. On the xbox the control interface is the worst I've experienced. Nigel mansell racing on the snes may have been better.

The s bends are tough on that track!

I haven't played the game, but I'm guessing that the people who think it's difficult because it's realistic haven't driven on tracks in real life? Warren has a point that if a car slides, especially something like a Clio etc... It's pretty easy to turn into the slide and straighten it up. I'm assuming this isn't the case in the game?

Correct, I've driven Snetterton in a Clio too many times.

I think the problem is that this game needs a wheel, a controller will never be able to replicate 900 degrees of steering wheel movement on 15mm travel of a joystick!

I've just had my first online race, looks like 4 people finished but I pretty much battled for 1st for about 8 laps of Barca and half of that in the dark with the marker boards trashed.

He was quicker through the hairpins but I smashed him through the fast bits which made an interesting race... Both of us got a bit aggressive in the last lap :D

I'll try and upload a replay tomorrow :D

But what fun!!!

Imo, it's not realistic. But all the gamer geeks (online not on here) think it is. I'm guessing they spend a lot of time in their bedroom as opposed to actually driving.

It feels like a car with lots of grip, but shagged dampers. There's grip, but lots of float in the handling.

It's weird, because it can be enjoyable purely because it's so challenging. But real cars on a track just don't behave like that. At all.

Tbf if it was an incredible thing to play you could forgive the crap car choice. But add that to the bugs, the controller issues, the slowdown and lag and I just can't understand the positive reviews.

If this was a gran turismo release it would of been absolutely panned by most people.

When you loose the grip available is where I don't think it's that realistic. In a 'normal' rwd car in the game one you slide, as someone else has said you're f*cked.

  DCi
Depending what car it is depends on how I've controlled a slide... I did a race in the classic escort and it under steers like s**t but you can use the power to sort it back out

Then the GT type cars that have loads of grip I just lock the brakes and it seems to stop it spinning usually so at least you can be pointing the right way when you stop

The go karts are just loopy :)

I haven't ever done a track day so can't comment on realism but it's a game so I'll do what it wants to get by

Only just had time to get back to this since the release.

Loving it so far, works great with my setup on PC, but I admit I can't see it being anywhere near as playable with a console pad.

Its awesome, glad I bought the T300RS now. Just debating on whether to spend some cash on the 3 pedal sett up and the gear shifter.

TBH I always find it hard to drive anything other than Arcade games or GTA with a pad their all shite.

Did a few laps round Oulton Park in the Ginetta G55 GT4 on my first proper go of the game, 1:42:260 which is not too shabby with no aids apart from abs (which I will add Ive turned off now). I love the way it requires your full concentration to string a fast lap together, Im still fumbling my way round the settings and menus but its a great game. I'll probably play this none stop till Star Wars Battlefront.
