Protecting corroding Sachs

My Sachs were refurbished about 6k miles ago but when I had the wheels off the other day I noticed they are starting to look a bit rusty around the bottom plate the spring sits on.

I saw in Jon.Gs thread that he painted his when he got them back as his were similar, I'm not really wanting to take them off and do that, but is there a product I can just spray on in situ that will offer some protection?

I'm thinking maybe wax oil? If that's suitable?

acf-50 gives good protection, bikers use it on exposed metal parts

I have it on my Suspension.

Fitted nearly a year ago brand new. Still look great.
