PS2 and Xbox(1) Owners (HDTV related)

Hi, just got my projector, its great, but playing games makes them blury (can understand that when its stuck in a low resolution)
The projector supports HDTV upto 1080p.

I've noticed on games like Gran turismo 4 on the ps2 that you can change it to be either progressive scan, or HDTV, using a component cable (RGB cable?) and just wondered if anyone has tried it.

Also on my xbox theres an output on the addon box i got with the surround sound kit which has plugs for component RGB leads, including the optical sound out... are there any games that actually would benifit from changing to this.

Anyways if anyone has tried it, or even owns a setup like this then please feel free to give some feedback on the idea :)

I have an HD projector (Sanyo Z3) with a my PS2/PC hooked up. I only have GT4 for the PS2, but it does indeed look a bit blurry. I have the UK version which they removed the HDTV support from, didn't find that out until I'd bought it

The Xbox can do realtime dolby digital surround sound, so connected to a suitable amp via optical it will give you nice sound. Don't know about picture quality.

What you want to do is get a DVI-HDMI cable and hook up your PC and play some half life 2, unbelievable!

What projector did you go for? Oh and be sure to check out the hdtv newsgroup for some nice HDTV material ;)

I ended up with the Acer PH110 (not truely HDTV, as its native resolution is lower than 1080, something like WideVGA 852x???)
Went for it as i've got 2 spare lamps for it as the projector they use at work uses exactly the same lamp ;)
Its ideal for my bedroom, really good quality :)

My PS2 is a pal version, but can play NTSC aswell ;)
The NTSC version of GT4 supports progressive scan at 480p and HDTV 1080p.

I'll have to invest in the Component kit for the PS2 and see what the results are :)

Definately not buying an Xbox360 for a while so have got to make do with the ps2 and xbox :)

Both PS2 and Xbox are hooked up to a 5.1 surround amp, provides great sound, especially for dvds

the ps2 doesnt do 1080p it may do 1080I

for the xbox most ntsc games had support for hdtv i have the component cable for sale if you want brand new never used official microsoft one
