i currently have the next version up to these but for an extra tenner i'd choose these over a crappy bluetooth one

Turtle beach X11 if you want one with wires which won't mean fannying about with charging etc. about £40 tho.

Whats the idea behind having the big ear speakers, does all the game sound come through them, or just people talking?

You hear everything but have controllers for how much chat and game noise comes through, if you still play COD a lot it makes a massive difference as you can hear where people are walking and shooting from, even people cocking grenades and reloading make a noise

Ive got the official PS3 one... Its pretty crap if you sit near to the TV, like how I have to in my room. It echoes everything, so I bet it pisses off all the SWET crew when we play COD lol.

The ones Bollo linked to are the new official Sony one that are coming out. Stereo wireless but with virtual 7.1 or some s**t and priced at $99. Could be alright, but I'll stick with my TurtleBeach DX11s which I've been told I can use with my PS3...but I've not turned it on since I bought them months ago.

They look the same as mine only yours are wireless, they're pretty decent for what I paid and good for me now I live in a shared flat that I won't annoy anyone when I game late.

Mine are wired mate, the DX11s are just the normal X11s but with the DSS addon (costs about £50 to buy separately but it's well worth it) box so that it gives virtual 5.1/7.1 surround sound. I looked at the X41 and PX5s but I can't justify paying that much money out for a headset and I'm not sure I like the idea of wireless. Another thing I need to remember to charge and no doubt a hellalot heavier.

Yep. There was a link in my post saying exactly that.

Other than the geekatron 3000 that is the official xbox 360 wired one, I've never used one of these for longer than five minutes. True story.

I like the idea of some awesome surround-sound-esque ones without the mic (ie; just some good normal headphones) tho..

I've got these.

Good value entry level stereo headset. Can adjust how loud chat and game sounds. Ideal.

Turtle Beach head sets are not the best, there's other headsets out there which are clearly better. Turtle Beach are popular that's why people rave about them

and there are headsets that cost £300 that are clearly better than most any of us use! it's a case of budget and turtle beach ones are the best for the price range they fit into.

The Tritton AX180's are pretty good from all the reviews I read, but I still went for the AX720's and don't regret spending the extra money on them as i can use them for my PC and any other device with a toslink connection.
