AMazon have just started atking pre-orders and you buy it alone, no stupid bundles etc.

They are also guaranteeing you one as they are going to stop the pre-orders today once their offcial allocation from Sony runs out so there is no repeat of the 360 fiasco!

I have just ordered one, prefer to buy without the bundle.

I think £425 is actually a good price - the guy in there raises a very valid point. If you total up the price of an Xbox 360, a Wireless adapter and the HD drive it comes to around £460.

So £425, judging by how much a Blu-Ray drive is (£400) isn't bad at all.

i got an email from them stating pretty much what that page says, hopefully they will keep their word this time!

we shall see, just gotta have bluray, only downside is that i won't be able to play US bluray discs.

i don't think it will be as bad because of the price, the wii at less than half the price was accessible to a lot more peoples budget, i think only hardcore gamers will pay £425 for a console as it will be over £500 with a couple of games and an extra controller and HDMI cable etc.

I doubt they will be in plentiful supply though

Similar specced PS3 at launch is same price as the 360 which is several months old
The BD drive in the PS3 is better than the 1st gen BD players which cost between £650 and £850 each - confirmed by various mags/reviews + the kids can play PS2 games from day one

I'm trying to decide if i'd actually use one enough to buy (i'm not much of a gamer, but like the odd racing car game every now & again, bit expensive for occasional use i suppose)
One good thing is, my bro-in-law works for sony, so he can get me 35% off.. and get me one on the release date. & i suppose he'd be good for some cheap/free games if i'm nice.

I havn't had a console since the first playstation. We shall see.

VHS would not have won its titanic struggle against Sony’s Betamax video tape format if it hadn’t been for p**n.

Blu-ray is more expensive than HD DVD but it has higher capacities at 50GB and is considered to be technically superior

Big-time p**n studio Vivid has announced its first Blu-ray p**n movie

the Blu-ray disc Association has reacted quickly by saying there is no ban against adult movie content.

Unsure of what Sony are trying to spin in the marketing dept. But rest assured, p**n will appart of the Bluray format.

I pre-ordered mine 20 mins ago at game, didnt do it online went to the shop, you dont have to pay the full amount, the minimum is £50, i paid it all to get it out the way but you can also pay the original deposit then pop in and pay x amount every week then pay the remainder when you pick it up.

£425, the worrying thing is they dont allow you to pay it all towards the console as they scan a deposit barcode which means you can only pay £50, so i now have £375 of vouchers, hope to god i dont lose them.

I noticed also that gamestation were doing it 1 penny cheaper and only required a minimum £20 deposit

i'll be honest and say i think they were available for a lot longer than i had imagined. I think I say that it said yesterday that the ones for sale then were an extra allocation they had got from Sony that they were selling.

I chose the courier delivery so hopefully should get it on launch date, no royal mail to blame for it being late.

In stark contrast there were no Wii's anywhere, and controllers were still limited to one per customer per day in most stores. Amusingly even Zelda was unavailable, a guy in Gamestop told me that something like 8 copies of Zelda have been shifted for every 10 Wii units sold, pretty crazy.

The big systems were the 360 and DS though, most stores had at least half the floor-space designated to both of them.

that is strange as it was the other way around in chicago last week when i was there, i went to loads of shops and none had a single PS3 but there were loads of Wii's around, must be regional stock differences.
