Focus ST-2
Just under 30,000 consoles for week 2, not bad considering most people who wanted yo buy would do so on the first week so the figures were always going to drop. 195,000 PS3 owners in the UK now and counting.
It's sold more in two weeks than the 360 could over the first month.
If Sony have not sent more stock to the UK then there are now only 35,000 consoles available for sale in the UK.

I'ts a bit of an exaggeration to say sales 'plummeted' sony were wise enough to have enough available at launch meaning those that wanted one got one.
It's not as if they expected week 2 sales to be exceeding week 1, unless of course they thought that those who didnt want one suddenly had a change of heart and bought it, its not exactly priced as something you buy on impulse while down the shops.
Its amazing the amount of Sony haters on here, like George Michael ffs, you all must either be an xbox owner who feels threatened by the ps3's release or unable to justify/be in a position to afford the ps3, lets compare the sales after a year.
The anti-PS3 threads are getting tiring now.
The 360 or Wii would have sold the same if not more if the stock had been there.

Unfortunately you can only guess at that, it's not guaranteed they'd have sold more.

Ok by the amount of people that got f*cked over by amazon, play at the 360 launch, there was more than enough demand for more stock, was it not like feb, march you could actually walk in to a shop and get one, maybe later.
Look at japan the wii is outselling the PS3 by pretty much 2 to 1.

Japan doesn't really count though, does it?
Put any game out there with some big-eyed girl(s) and some bizarre scenarios and the Japs will buy it in droves. If its cute - it sells. Us Europeans and the Yanks (to be fair) tend to like things a bit more cerebral than having Miss Yakeumachi and her three pet, fireball spewing dinosaurs, hopping from mushrooms to clouds.
I don't think price is a factor in Japan - fluffiness is. And for that, firms like Nintendo will always win. Hands down.

It isn’t overly surprising that Microsoft’s year-old Xbox 360 outsold the Sony PlayStation 3. The latter has trickled into retail stores, a fact that has converted many players from allegiance to Solid Snake to Marcus Phenix. However, more surprising is the fact that the 360 outsold the intensely popular Nintendo Wii, which has received rave reviews for its use of motion sensor technology.
The numbers are a bit skewed, however, since they’re limited to the American market. That tosses out Wii-frantic Europe and a Japanese population that has no use for Bill Gates’ little console. There, you can expect numbers will greatly favor the other two consoles.
But in the great United States of America, apparently residents are favoring home cookin’. Between the beginning of November and Santa’s arrival in the wee morning hours of Christmas Day, the Xbox 360 shipped some 2 million times, with the Nintendo Wii a close second at 1.8 million. The ghostly PlayStation 3 – which only seemed to haunt retail shelves here and there – sold just 750,000 units over the same period
Why do so many people care about sales figures though? The Dreamcast was a flop and was one of the best consoles I've owned. Surely the only thing that matters is the fun you have playing the games?
as that reports says though, the ps3 only haunted retail shelves here and there, it was in short supply!Xbox 360 trounches the PS3 in America though

not sure where the idea comes from that the PS3 is available easily in the US as i was there a few weeks ago and i went to a LOT of stores and not one had one and there was a big waiting list at all of them. The only figure that counts is the US sales figures where they have been out for a while and the 360 is outselling the PS3. You can't really pick any faults with that figure. Both consoles have been around for a while, there are no stock shortages and more people are buying 360's than PS3's.
must be a locality thing as i went to all those stores (excluding amazon lol) and none of them had them.Depends where you are looking in the US I guess, but a quick search online shows that there doesn't seem to be any problems getting a PS3 anymore, unlike the Wii...

and if you look at online stores...Gamestop have PS3s in stock to ship but no Wiis, and it's the same story at Amazon, Toys R Us, Walmart and Best Buy.
