Puliing to side

Sometimes I've noticed my 182, under reasonably heavy breaking (the kind when you've almost missed a turning), as the speed decreases it tends to get quite lively and I noticed a reasonable pull to the right and a steering wheel wiggles/jerks left & right too.

Is this normal as just a bit of 'character' and to be expected from heavy breaking? which would be sorted by maning up and holding the wheel tighter!

Or does it sound like something needs re-aligning/looking at?

Thanks

Could be your tracking, thats caused the tyres to wear un-evenly, also worn shocks can cause wandering too.
Get your tracking done, however it might not cure it until the tyres have worn back into the right shape, failing that new tyres if theyre getting towards their limits.

Cheers for the tips guys.

Only had the car a few weeks but will check the pressures when I fill up tomorrow. Tyres from what I could see seemed to be wearing evenly though I'll give them a proper eye ****ing later.

It'd had the belts done last month and a few months before that had the wishbones replaced due to perished rubber mounts (or something) and doesn't mention anything about worn shocks.

Is there anyway to visibly tell if this could be it?

Tracking seems to be fine when driving normally no measurable pull to the left or right. Will check to see for signs of missing wheel weights etc. I did notice the power steering reservoir (or possibly brake fluid) was very full, way past what it should be. I'll have to double check this later as I may be seeing things.

Thanks for the replies.

Get it properly aligned. Amazing how much a car can be out without you even noticeing.

After I got mine done last week a colleague took his disco 3 to get it aligned. He said it seemed ok alignment wise before but wanted it checking now its 5 years old and it was out of the tolerences on nearly all the readings!

umm sticking caliper?

More than likely one of the rears. I'd get the car a full service, should have done that already seeing as you've just bought it.

Hi - mine does this, just changed the rear discs and pads and the rear shocks. It still does it, I feel that as the load increases on the front end there is a slight pull to the right, it must be a front strut? Anyone else had this problem? I used to have something similar on my 197 and never found a cure!

Its annoying! hope it can be sorted!
