Pulling like a train.

Went to the gym last night, and it's about an 8 mile drive (I live in the middle of nowhere) and I'd previously just got in from work, so the car was nice and warm, and I gave it some stick coming up out of a valley, and it pulled like a train. It was unbelieveable. It was -1deg, so maybe the nice cool air helped with the power a bit, or maybe I just hit the right revs in each gear, but it made me happy, and that I like my little ghey car again.

Cold air is more dense and contains more oxygen and therefore more power, turbo's LOVE cold air even more :)
more power but less grip (due to cold roads and tyres), not a good combination, but FUN ;)

maybe we should all drive around in summer with Dry ice shoved down our air intakes ;)

Sorry to be a party pooper but theres a thread "anyone else noticed" which is talking about this already.

Lol, bothered.

As said by Simon turbo'd cars love it :) They suffer in the summer though :dapprove:

There is no way i'm going to go out & push my car to see how well it does in the cold weather.

Yeah my old Punto GT used to love this kind of weather!! Also used to be pretty much constantly spinning everywhere though once it came in boost, even had it in 5th a few times.

noticed my car felt a bit more keen the other day back from work. Did think it may be due to the chill, but convinced myself it was simply placebo

This morning I was driving home at half 2.. My little 172 was faster than usual, and it felt like quite a bit faster too! My induction kit sounded louder too..

I parked up this morning at work, -3deg. Was wheelspinning in first everytime I pulled away, fuel economy dropped to about 43mpg :(

I can't get the power down without going sideways! got a wee fright the other day, wheelspin in 3rd at over 100! ha! oops!

Love the cold air tho! the noise and window down!

I'd rather not nail it in this cold weather to be honest, my road was sheet ise the other day and two crashed cars within a few miles of the house on the same road.

But it does seem to like the cooler weather, takes a decade to warm up in the mornings though.

Pretty well if mines anything to go by ;) Although wheelspin in 3rd off the throttle was a bit iffy...

Once it gets too cold though, it starts to have a negative affect apparently (so a friend doing some engine crap PhD tells me) - something to do with minute ice crystals in the air.
